| Overview
Introit supports a cross-reference service that provides alternate
products that can replace current product selections. The standard
cross-reference service assumes that the user has the correct orderable
part number and has the correct manufacturers name.
Why Use Introits Cross-Reference Service?
As part of our standard service offering, Introit will provide the
following service functions:
- Attribute filter you can create any depth or selected
attributes for cross-reference outcomes.
- Introit supports multiple source databases that increase the chances
of finding a cross-reference. In addition, we will display all results
from all of the source databases, providing a confirmation on a
cross-referenced part.
- If parametrics are not available or not deep enough, Introit can
quickly add any depth set of selectable attributes.
- Introit will support 24/7 attribute enhancements and validation of
attributes to any depth using our data factory sources located in
Bangalore and Bucharest, thus providing quick turnaround on large,
cross-reference BOMs.
- Introit also has a small network of US-based SMEs for those
difficult to find second-sourced parts.
Introit will also offer the following optional service functions:
- Introit will display a single, cross-referenced comparison that best
fits the attributes selected for comparison.
- Introit will groom incoming orderable part numbers; we will not
assume that the submitted orderable part number is correct if this
option is selected.
- Introit will provide an optional sampling plan on all
cross-referenced parts based on ANSI/ASQC Z1.4, ISO 2859, with an AQL of
0.25% on all attributes.
All of our service offerings are managed by component SME who are EEs
and designers who have used many of the components found in todays
aggregated databases. We are familiar with what component information is
necessary to build an effective cross-reference.
Service Focus
This service augments purchasing, supply-chain management, and component
engineering functions in OEMs, distributors, and CEMs:
- Provides savings when placing aggregated purchases.
- Provides purchasing with a product selection for their multiple
supplier spend strategies allocating component purchasing between
at least 2 suppliers with one supplier groomed as a back up in case the
primary supplier cannot deliver product on time or at the appropriate
price.
- Provides an inventory backup when a particular part number is not
available; by searching your own database, a replacement part might be
found.
- Supply chain management and component engineering now have a second
source to guarantee timely production flow.
The cross-reference product is also useful for the electronic component
manufacturers who wish to increase sales, and provides the following
functions:
- Replacement of your competitors part with your part.
- Replacement of a competitors part with an equivalent part that
is in your inventory; in some cases, the exact part is out of stock, and
an alternative is more than acceptable to the customer.
- Replacement of a competitors part with an upgrade part that is
in your inventory; this feature supports up-selling opportunities.
- Arms the representative network with a selling tool that captures
competitor product opportunities.
Introit Systems will also provide an add-on service that corrects and
creates orderable part numbers based on:
- A cross-reference to part number changes created because of a
company merger
- A cross-reference to part numbers that have been changed because of
internal manufacturing decisions
- Keywords found in the description.
Specifications
Introits service supports one or multiple selectable sources,
manufacturing sources, parametric depth for deep or shallow comparisons,
and a wide selection of matching criteria.
Selectable Source
The user can select the manufacturers source database for cross
referencing, and includes one or all of the following:
- Your own internal database reserved for cross-referencing.
- External aggregated database cross-reference the user can
select from one of the aggregated service providers.
- Individual datasheet cross-reference if the user wants the
ultimate guarantee of a deep parametric search with the latest datasheet
as the source, Introit offers this option that enables todays
datasheet content cross-reference comparison.
Manufacturing Sources
The user can select from one or all of the following manufacturer
electronic component sources:
- Line card based manufacturers tied to the distributors
represented products; this applies to OEMs and CEMs when partnering with
distribution, and applies to the distributor themselves when trying to
find a line-card based cross-reference match
- AVL based manufacturers tied to the internal AVL manufacturers
list if you are an OEM or CEM
- Individual manufacturer enables custom competitor list
generation useful when building an internal cross-reference product
dedicated to an electronic component manufacturers sales needs
Parametric Depth
Introit provides a wide-range of selectable parameters for a
cross-reference search, and includes the following:
- The parametric depth already found in your own database.
- The parametric depth found in aggregated, 3rd party component
databases.
- Core attributes Introit pre-selected attributes required when
selecting a family of components; this is a minimum set of attributes;
if the selected database does not have the appropriate core attributes,
Introit will fill in the parametric gaps.
- Full attributes Introit pre-selected attributes that include
most AC specifications and all DC specifications; Introit will have to
enhance existing databases to provide for a complete set of attributes
for cross-referencing.
- Selectable parameters user selected attribute set that
includes any or all of the parametric selections above.
Matching Levels
Cross-reference provides a parametrically driven comparison of leaf node
specific products; parameters include not only domain shared attributes,
but many leaf-node specific parameters; the more parameters compared, the
closer the match; matches can be based on:
- Functionality-based; the cross-referenced parts belong to the same
leaf node family regardless of differences in some parametric values
- Parameter-based; the cross-reference parts not only belong to the
same leaf node family, but share some common parametric values; the
number of parametric values is user selectable
- Symbol-based; the cross-reference parts share functionality, common
parametric values, and the same pin layout
- Footprint-based; the cross-reference parts share functionality,
common parametric values, the same pin layout, and the same packaging
(pin-for-pin match)
- Upgrade/downgrade; the cross-reference parts share functionality,
pin layout, and the same package, but have some parametric values that
are different providing an upgrade or downgrade path based on parameter
values
