Data Cleansing Services

Overview

Introit focuses on cleaning internal content databases found in repositories and content silos all across an enterprise guaranteeing increased content savings. Savings are based on improved spend strategies, aggregated discount purchasing, and improved inventory management and allocation.

Data Cleansing Pieces

Introit’s data cleansing is a database content process that guarantees the accuracy of the following database content fields:

  • Orderable part number – the full pre and post suffix character part number (text string) representing all ordering and shipping options
  • Manufacturer’s name – the full, legal name given on the 10K with the appropriate division or corporate headquarters DUNS number
  • Address – the full legal address with zip/mail codes
  • Telephone number – corporate or appropriate divisional telephone number
  • DUNS number – D&B’s unique number that matches the full legal name and address of the corporate headquarters or divisional location
  • Tagline description – the description given at the top of a datasheet penned by the manufacturer

Additionally, parametric information can also be checked for currency and completeness.

Data Cleansing Process: Orderable Part Number

At a minimum for all three options, a decipherable manufacturer’s name, a partial part number, and a good, complete description is required to generate an orderable part number. The following is a high level process flow for the data cleansing (details are available with an NDA):

  • Eliminate duplicate part numbers from master electronic component database and place into an ancillary duplicate part number database;.
  • Establish correct orderable part number following Introit’s patented validation and generation algorithm and place into master or “golden” electronic component database
  • Use an internal golden database orderable part number and select the correct orderable part number configuration with assistance from the part description, and/or
  • Derive orderable part number from an electronic component datasheet found on the web or a printed catalog, and/or
  • If worse comes to worse, call the manufacturer up, and get the orderable part number.
  • Map duplicate part numbers to correct part number in an ancillary duplicate part number database for future reference and mapping

Data Cleansing Process: Address, Telephone Number

Introit will automatically extract address and telephone number from a pdf datasheet or manual. Introit will use the web, printed databooks or datasheets, and our internal manufacturer’s address and telephone database to validate current address and telephone numbers associated with an orderable part number and manufacturer’s full, legal name.

Data Cleansing Process: Name, DUNS Number

Introit will automatically extract the manufacturer’s name from a pdf datasheet or manual. Introit will use D&B resources as part of a validation process focusing on the correct, full legal name and DUNS numbers. In addition, Introit has a manufacturer’s database that contains a history of abbreviations, truncations, and legal ancestry that can be used to map an inaccurate or incomplete or old manufacturer’s name to the correct, full, legal manufacturer’s name. Introit will provide a second validation pass based on our internal manufacturer’s name database. The DUNS number will follow the ancestral location for the product’s manufacturing facility regardless of any changed legal name.

Data Cleansing Process: Tagline Description

Introit will automatically extract the products tagline from the pdf datasheet or manual. The tagline description is typically found on the first page at the top of the page, and is typically printed in a bold typeface. If the tagline has multiple generic part numbers, the tagline will be split into multiple taglines aligned with the various orderable part numbers.
